The Top 5 Mistakes that New Dommes Make
I normally don’t like to focus on the negative, but fear not! I am writing this with the intention of stopping mistakes before they happen or before they prolong for far too long. The last thing you want is for anything to ruin your brand or reputation as an online dominatrix or to prevent you from making the most money possible as soon as possible.
So, without further introduction, here are the top 5 mistakes that I see newer Dommes make the most often:
Not Understanding the Fetishes
I understand how exciting FemDom is and how eager one can be to get started. I know I certainly was, when I first began! However, if you’re not prepared with a good foundation with understanding the various fetishes in FemDom, you are setting yourself up for both embarrassment and failure. I have an entire article here about getting started as a FemDomme. That’s a good place to start.
Not Having Good Pictures
I know this one seems a little strange but I can’t stress the importance of this enough. Ladies, I am going to be real with you… it looks way less professional to only have photos of yourself that are low quality with bad lighting, especially ones without your face.
I actually come across this so many times with newer Dommes asking to be promoted on @RTDoms but have so few, low quality photos to choose from. It drives me so crazy that I wrote an entire article about the importance of photos here, urging all new Dommes to take better photos.
Having a few good photos goes a long way in presenting yourself in the best way online and, in many cases, making a really good first impression on a variety of subs that are looking for a Domme like yourself. Like most men, subs are very visual and before they will read your profile or tweets or anything else, they are likely to check your photos first. Moreover, it’s my belief that you are more likely to be taken seriously when you have a more professional look and feel going on.
Thinking That Only Having a X is Enough
This one came as a huge shock to me, personally. Simply creating a X profile for yourself, with hardly anything else, is usually not enough to be a successful online Dominatrix. It’s even worse when this is combined with #2 in which a X account has only low quality photos. In fact, I can’t think of one example of a Domme being successful in this manner.
I receive many questions from newer Dommes revolving around where to find subs. I find that many times, these are the types of Dommes that are only on X with not much else. If you want to be successful in online FemDom, you will need to put in the work on a variety of sites, which brings me to my next point…
Not Diversifying Income
The vast majority of FemDommes make the most income and meet the most potential subs by having a variety of ways that bring in money.
This includes:
This way, if clips don’t do well one day, camming that same day did awesome or vice versa. Although it’s a lot more work, when it comes to actually making money, you will likely be a lot less stressed with income coming from a variety of sources.
Putting the Time In
The last mistake can actually be summed up in one word:
Patience
I know it’s not what anyone wants to hear but becoming successful usually takes a lot of time. With few exceptions, it will take time to figure out what fetishes work best for you, what sites you’ll ultimately stay on that work best for you, to build up a “fan base” of subs, to really figure out your equipment, etc.
Remember, not every Domme can be a Top Domme and that’s okay. Becoming content with what you are doing is also key to your own success as an online Dominatrix.
